Telehealth has become an increasingly popular and effective option for psychotherapy due to its numerous benefits. Here are 22 reasons (I did a little carried away) why I feel that Telehealth is a great option for psychotherapy: I am now offering therapy in 100% Telehealth Mode. Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from September.

  1. Accessibility: Telehealth eliminates geographical barriers, making mental health services available to individuals in remote or underserved areas.

  2. Convenience: Clients can access therapy from the comfort of their homes or any location with an internet connection, saving time and travel costs.

  3. Flexibility: Telehealth offers more flexible scheduling options, allowing client to find appointments that suit their busy lives.

  4. Reduced stigma: Some individuals may find it less intimidating to seek help through teletherapy, reducing the perceived stigma associated with mental health services.

  5. Increased privacy: Clients can have sessions in a private setting, ensuring their confidentiality and anonymity.

  6. Enhanced continuity of care: Clients can continue therapy even during travel or relocations, maintaining a consistent therapeutic relationship.

  7. Improved access for people with disabilities: Telehealth accommodates individuals with physical disabilities who might have difficulty accessing in-person therapy.

  8. Time efficiency: Teletherapy sessions may be shorter since there's no need to account for travel time and waiting rooms, making therapy more efficient.

  9. Lower cost: Telehealth can be more cost-effective for both clients and therapists, as it reduces overhead expenses associated with a physical office.

  10. Broadens therapist options: Clients can choose from a larger pool of therapists, finding a better fit for their specific needs.

  11. Reduced COVID-19 risks: During pandemics or health crises, teletherapy provides a safe alternative to in-person sessions, mitigating the risk of exposure.

  12. Comfort and familiarity: Being in a familiar environment during therapy can lead to increased comfort and openness.

  13. Better attendance and engagement: Telehealth eliminates some barriers to attendance, resulting in higher patient engagement and commitment to therapy.

  14. Access to specialists: Clients can access specialized therapists who might not be available locally.

  15. Easier note-taking: Therapists can take digital notes during sessions, making documentation more efficient and secure.

  16. Sharing resources: Clients can easily share documents, worksheets, or multimedia resources with their therapists during teletherapy sessions.

  17. Parental involvement: For child and adolescent therapy, parents can be more actively involved in the process, even from a separate location.

  18. Overcoming transportation challenges: Telehealth removes transportation barriers, ensuring that lack of transportation doesn't hinder access to mental health services.

  19. Improved outcomes: Research has shown that teletherapy can be as effective as in-person therapy for various mental health conditions.

  20. Reduced wait times: Telehealth can decrease wait times for therapy appointments, enabling clients to receive help sooner.

  21. Crisis support: Telehealth allows for immediate access to help during mental health crises, promoting early intervention.

  22. Environmentally friendly: Telehealth reduces the carbon footprint associated with transportation to physical therapy locations.

I do acknowledge that telehealth may not be suitable for everyone, however I certainly encourage everyone to try it out sometime. You may just surprise yourself whether you are 8 or 88.
